My request for a one week Rest and Relaxation trip to Australia was received on November 13, 1968.  I did not go to Australia until late May 1969.  Ten months was a typical waiting period in order to visit Australia.  I truly enjoyed my journey, but it was difficult to re-enter the war after a week away.  Some vicious fighting welcomed me in June.

Everyone had a "Short Timers" reminder of some kind.  Mine was my Safeway Portland Employees Federal Credit Union calendar.

Hey, how many others still have a receipt from the Saigon Regional Exchange?  I was quite the pack rat because I knew I was part of a major historical event.
